This story is way, way more than that of an addict who finds recovery. This is the story of a remarkable woman and the exceptional man who has stood by her. I could not put this book down and read it in 2 days. The author's harrowing journey is told with intense honesty and even, lots of humor. Henriette Ivanans is an excellent writer, and the clarity she has about herself, even through decades of addiction, is incredible. She holds nothing back. That's why this book is so riveting. It's a total miracle that the author is still alive. Her incredible strength and, most especially, the fierce passion and commitment she shares with her unwaveringly devoted husband, is jaw-droppingly inspiring. Oh, and then there's the whole additional layer of kidney disease. Yea. Her story is unreal. Except... it isn't. Highly recommend!!!
