First off, know that this is a very adult comic. And that it is very adult cool!I'll let others fill you in on how it fits in on the rest of the series and do comparisons and such. Let me just comment on the shock value being so much more than shock value, something garth Ennis does better than most anybody. He utilizes your surprise, and often disgust, to get your attention and make you think. Satire is sorely needed in our fresh, new millennium folks and not many writers are even attempting it, not even in the most subtle, Thurber-like forms. Ennis's form of satire is like a big Marshall guitar amp on 11.If you don't have an open mind, you're not going to like The Boys because Ennis will likely shine a constant spotlight of scrutiny directly upon you. But then folks like me that consider themselves open-minded are sooner or later going to find their beliefs and considerations challenged in The Boys too. I think that's what good satire does, when it works. And The Boys definitely works for me.
