One of the all time best Masterworks collections. Claremont's sixth volume on Uncanny X-Men opens with the classic mini-arc "Days of Future Past" in which Kitty Pryde travels back in time to her younger body from a dark, dystopian future in which Sentinels have hunted mutants down almost to extinction. The book is a classic read despite its relatively short length and certainly still holds up. After Days of Future Past, the book has a bit of world building with Cyclops taking up with a freighter ship to heal from his loss of Jean Grey and Kitty further cementing her place with the X-Men (especially after she narrowly survives an encounter a demonic monster that wrecks the X-Mansion). The final arc of the book is also an absolute winner: Magneto returns to hold the world hostage with his powerful abilities. As he clashes with the X-Men and a shipwrecked Cyclops, Magneto reveals his true nature as a mutant extremist with a deep respect for his enemies. Magneto was originally written as a generic villain who only cared about world domination; under Claremont Magneto started to morph into the complex character we know him as today (for example, Magneto mentions his lost family and his time in the Nazi concentration camps during this battle).
